This issue has spiraled out of control. It's a total catastrophe. We've tried anything to fix it, but nothing seems to work. At this point, it feels like we're doomed. Honestly, I don't know what else to do. This is a train wreck of epic proportions.
This is So Bad, It's Funny (Not Really)
Sometimes you find yourself face-to-face with situations so terrible that you can't help but smile. It's like your brain tries to make sense of the sheer level of destruction and just throws its hands up, opting for amusement as a coping strategy.
But then, you suddenly become aware that it's not really actually that amusing. It's just plain horrifyingly awful. And the laughter you were experiencing morphs into a groan.
In the end, you are left with a sense of utter perplexity. You start ruminating about the purpose of it all. Was this some kind of twisted art experiment?
Or were we just living in a simulation gone wrong?

Dreadful Day Ever
It all started with a case of terrible hair. I couldn't do it to look presentable. As I was hurrying out the door, I trippedon and badly all over my new shoes. To make matters worse, I was extremely behind schedule for work.
I arrived. My {boss|teacher|was absolutely furious. I tried to explain, but it was a hopeless situation.
The rest of the day was just as bad. Everything. I stay awake.
By the time I got home, I was exhausted. This day, this terrible day will be forever remembered as an epic fail.

It all started out terribly with a simple mishap/incident/screw-up. But then things went from bad to absolutely terrible. A series/chain/cascade of unfortunate/awful/disastrous events unfolded/occurred/piled on top each other, leaving me feeling like I was in a nightmare/horror movie/comedy of errors. It's the kind of situation where you just want to scream into a pillow.
